It is considered even more powerful, and is used to treat more conditions. Aniracetam has much the same effect as piracetam without problems of toxicity or side effect. It is an original pharmaceutical product by Roche, which acts on the central nervous system (CNS), stimulating the learning process and the memory. Pharmacological studies have shown that Aniracetam stimulates the functions of certain neuronal receptors by means of glutamic acid, bringing about memorization processes (AMPA receptors) and protection of nerve cells (metabotrophic receptors). Precautions and Special Warnings In the case of unrest, anxiety, agitation in the evening or insomnia, it is advisable for the patient to take the second dose in the early hours of the afternoon or even one single 1500mg dose in the morning. Although animal research has shown no teratogenic effects, taking this product during pregnancy or while nursing is still inadvisable. In patients suffering from serious renal insufficiency (creatine clearance < 10ml/min), the daily dosage should be lowered. Directions for Use The total recommended dosage is 1500mg per day to be taken in 1 or 2 doses. The tablets are to be taken whole accompanied by water. The therapeutic effect of Aniracetam is seen after about 60 days and may be more pronounced after 4 months of treatment. Overdose Cases of overdose of this pharmaceutical product have not been reported. Unpleasant Side Effects Draganon is well tolerated by all patients, even the elderly.
